Getting Accademia Gallery Tickets when Sold Out

Getting Accademia Gallery Tickets when Sold Out

There are several places to get Accademia Gallery tickets when sold out. Sometimes the official website has no availability months in advance, and in this case, there are several other operators that might have tickets for sale. We detail below all the places to check to maximize your chances of finding last minute tickets.

Option 1

The first place to check is here. This website offers a range of different Accademia Gallery Florence products, from basic timed entrance tickets to see Michelangelo’s David to reserved entrance guided tours and VIP access passes. Make sure to look through the different products carefully, as each one has a slightly different specification.

Option 2

The second place to check is here. Viatour offers priority entrance tickets with over 5 different time slots throughout the day. This is the cheapest ticket available to the Accademia Gallery Florence that also offers skip-the-line entrance. Given the incredibly long lines just to get into the site, this is definitely an option worth purchasing if there is availability on your required travel dates.

Option 3

The third place to look is here. Expedia offers a guided tour of the Accademia Gallery Florence through their ticketing platform, that lasts for 1 hour. The ticket will give you fast track entrance, so again you’ll beat the queues. It’s a little more expensive than the previous options, and because of this tends to get sold out at a later date. Make sure to check this option carefully as is might have last minute availability.

Option 4

The fourth place to look is here. The Tiquets tour platform offers a number of different ways of visiting The Accademia Gallery Florence. Similar to the first option, it promotes many different tickets and tours, ranging from 25USD to over 100USD. Some of them combine a visit with other popular sites in Florence, such as the Uffizi Gallery and Il Duomo. As you would expect, the more expensive products tend to have more availability, especially last minute.

Option 5:

The fifth option is to purchase a Firenze Card. This pass gives you an admission to the Accademia Gallery with fast track entrance, along with access to the Uffizi Gallery and Duomo Complex, with a reservation to climb the Duomo. In total, the card includes passes to over 75 museums and is priced at 85 euros per person. This is a great option if you are planning on doing a lot of sightseeing in Florence, and plan on seeing the other major attractions in the city. Please note that whilst you buy the card online, you must then exchange for it for a paper pass at one of several collection points dotted around Florence. All in all, the Firenze Card offers great value for money if you are going to be visiting a lot of places in a short amount of time.

What to Expect

  • The Accademia Gallery is home to the statue of David, Michelangelo’s most famous work. It portrays a scene from the biblical David and Goliath setting, with David sculpted just before he takes on Goliath.
  • Whilst the statue of David tends to be the main draw to the Accademia Gallery and is the reason why it gets sold out, there are many other fabulous works of art on display. This includes additional works by Michelangelo, along with other leading Italian Renaissance artists. Highlights include ancient frescoes, paintings and tapestries.
  • Whilst the main galleries get really crowded, there are some off-the-beaten-track parts of the museum that are quieter, and well worth a visit. This includes the instrument gallery, that displays the work of some of the finest Italian luthiers such as Stradivari and Amati.
